Rosemary is native to the mediterranean and belongs to the mint family. Spotted all over oakland, it is a culinary herb, an essential oil and a fragrance. Legend says the bush was named “Rose of Mary,” after the Virgin Mary. She would spread her blue cloak over a white-blossomed rosemary bush when she rested and it would turn the flowers blue.
